A Message From Our School:

We would like to welcome you to West Tennessee Bible Institute. You have chosen to enroll in what we believe to be the finest Bible Believing Institute available today. The Bible says that a christian and a preacher specifically is to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” These verses point out the fact that there is only one correct way to understand the Bible: to rightly divide it, anything else is just babblings. All heresies and unscriptural movements fail to rightly divide the Scriptures.

The late Dr. Oliver B. Greene said,” A call to preach is a call to prepare.” The Apostle Paul declared in 2 Tim 2:2, “ And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

The West Tennessee Bible Institute is a theological seminary designed to assist and train those who have been called to the ministry. WTBI operates as a correspondence school, making it possible for ministerial students to earn a non-accredited, college level Theological Degree, and yet be active in their local church.

The West Tennessee Bible Institute upholds the Bible as the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God (Proverbs 30:5). It is the position of this institute that the Holy Scripture (2 Tim. 3:15) has been preserved in the English Authorized King James Version, and are thereby "given by inspiration of God" (2 Tim. 3:16).

Accreditation

WTBI is a ministry of our local church, therefore we do not seek accreditation from any state or local organization. Our credits and degrees stand on their own merit. Many Bible colleges are approved by the state of Tennessee; yet their credits are no more respected in state universities than ours.

As to how our credits will be accepted at other colleges, some points need to be made. First, every school is its own authority when deciding what credits to accept or reject. We trust that as our reputation for quality becomes known that many Bible schools of like faith will accept our credits. Second, most secular schools will not accept any credit or degrees from Bible colleges.

Doctrinal Statement

1. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit

2. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious and atoning death, in His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the Father’s right hand.

3. We believe that man is totally depraved, a sinner both nature and practice, therefore totally separated from God, totally lost and in need of the convicting and regenerating ministry of the Holy Ghost.

4. We believe that salvation is a free gift from God offered to any man totally “by grace” and must be received “through faith” apart from any works, plus nothing and minus nothing.

5. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved unto “LIFE” and the unsaved unto “JUDGMENT” and everlasting damnation. We believe in a literal heaven with golden streets and a literal burning hell with fire and brimstone.

6. We believe in the visible, personal, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ.

7. We believe in the local New Testament church which is a body of baptized believers who come together in obedience to Christ to carry out the message of the Word of God.

8. We believe that there are two ordinances of the local church--Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe baptism to be the symbolic act of a saved believer being immersed in water, the Lord’s Supper being observed by the church by taking of bread and grape juice as a memorial of the Lord’s death and in expectation of His return.

9. We believe that the Bible ( King James 1611) is the Word of God and is the absolute authority in determining the faith and practice of God’s people. We affirm that the sixty-six books of the Bible are inerrant divinely and uniquely inspired, and are given to mankind written as they were inspired by the Spirit of God. These Scriptures are divinely intended for personal study and interpretation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

10. We believe that when a person accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, he can never be lost as he is kept by the power of God.

11. We believe in the personality of Satan; in his power and kingdom, in his wiles and in his judgment at the cross and in his eternal destruction in hell.
